Paperboard Industries International Inc. is a world-class leader in the manufacture of premium coated boxboard and folding cartons.
Paperboard operates seven mills with a total annual production capacity of 810,000 metric tonnes of coated boxboard for conversion into folding cartons and microflute packaging. Three of these mills are located in Canada, two in France, one in Germany and one in Sweden. Ranked first in its industry in Canada and in France, the Corporation is the ninth largest coated boxboard manufacturer in North America and the fourth in Europe.
Paperboard obtains its supply of recycled fibres through its own recovery networks and affiliates, as well as through long term agreements with independent suppliers. To secure its supply of virgin fibre, it operates four chemical or mechanical pulp mills in Quebec, France and Sweden, and holds interests in sawmills.
In addition to its core business of manufacturing and converting boxboard, Paperboard holds a 50% interest in a mill in France that produces fluff pulp for the hygiene products industry.
As at December 31, 1998, Paperboard employed over 2,900 people in 16 facilities and 6 sales offices, of which 10 facilities are either ISO 9002 or 9001 certified, and two others are ISO 14001 certified.

Cascades inc. (produits spécialisés)
La conversion
Comme l’indique leur nom, les usines du Groupe Conversion Cascades inc. transforment certains produits bruts du secteur des pâtes et papiers en produits finis et semi-finis. Pour ce faire, elles s’approvisionnent, entre autres, en cartons non couchés de leurs usines soeurs et les transforment.
Ces acquisitions ont permis à Cascades d’élargir sa gamme de produits, de consolider sa position comme premier producteur nord-américain de bouts de protection de bobines à l’usage de l’industrie des pâtes et papiers et de devenir un acteur important dans le domaine du papier d'emballage destiné au même marché.
